Morrissey Today marks fifty years. For me without doubt the greatest songwriter of popular music has in the past forty years. Brilliant, provocative, difficult, endowed with unprecedented sensitivity has always gone against the tide of fashion. For some years going solo, or rather as many years, and without reaching the level that was sublime with The Smiths Johnny Marr has created many of the more interesting songs in recent years.
Personally, his lyrics are more important than the best books I've read. Poetry, heartbreak, loneliness, hope, rage, and a lot of things that are accompanying me since I met them.
